Clamping

Many glues need pressure to adhere. Other glues may not need pressure, but may take time to adhere, more time than you have to waste holding it in place. Here are some tips on clamping.

• Surgical tubing, elastic bands, old bicycle tubes, all make excellent clamping materials because they tighten upon themselves, and they wrap around irregular shapes without causing damage.
• Clothes pins are good for light positioning of small objects.
• An overall even weight is often ideal for clamping, but make sure that you don't glue your objects to what you are pressing them with. Wax paper is good for protecting against unwanted adherence. Plastic wrap doesn't allow enough air circulation.
• Duct tape is a good way of holding something in place while your glue is drying.
